Business buzz: Wealth adviser picked for Top 150 ranking

Medical Economics magazine recently named Sarasota wealth management adviser Rick Helbing with Suncoast Advisory Group as one of its Top 150 picks in the nation for financial advisers.

Construction firm opens headquarters

Michael Foreman of construction consulting firm Foreman and Associates Inc. has opened the company headquarters at 2511 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota.

The recently purchased building houses the operations and staff and is equipped with emergency power generator equipment and other facilities that will allow the company to maintain full client services during emergency situations.

Workforce Board gives award to Sen. Bennett

State Sen. Michael Bennett, R-Bradenton, was presented the Suncoast Workforce Board's 2008 Workforce Development Leadership Award.

The award is bestowed upon an individual who best exemplifies leadership in areas of workforce development, education or economic development.

Bennett sponsored Senate Bill 428, passed in June, that allows regional workforce boards in Florida to provide director oversight of local one-stop career centers. With the change, the Suncoast board will save $377,000 that will be used to enhance workforce services in Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Martinez promoted at Charlotte State Bank

Craig DeYoung, president of Charlotte State Bank, based in Port Charlotte, recently announced that Sandra Martinez has been promoted from loans operations representative to senior loans operations specialist.

Martinez started as a teller in 1972 and has been with Charlotte State for 15 years.
